Salem Shriram is one of the prime disciples of Sri. Calcutta K. S. Krishnamurti. Shriram is a graded artiste of the AIR Chennai, and has been regularly performing in the Chennai December Music Season for several years now. Shriram has performed in most of the prime venues in Chennai, including the Music Academy and the Narada Gana Sabha. He has received several awards for his performances during the December season, including the best junior vocalist awards at the Krishna Gana Sabha and the Chennai Music Academy. Shriram’s concerts have received accolades from popular critics like Sri. Subbudu, and his reviews have appeared in many newspaper dailies. Shriram has performed in several venues in the USA, including the Cleveland Thyagaraja festival. He has received a number of awards and titles, including the “Sangeeta Sri” awarded by the Rasika Ranjani Sabha, Trichy. Shriram has had the unique opportunity to perform in front of past Sangita Kalanidhis, including Dr. M. S. Subbulakshmi and Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, who have appreciated his music. Shriram has a purist approach to classical music, and sings with a high degree of classicism. He lives in Memphis, and works for FedEx Corporation.
In his Utsav 2007 performance, Salem Shriram will be accompanied by Raman Iyer on the violin and Karthik Gopalratnam on the mridangam.
