This award-winning comedy/drama with music and multi-media animation, tells the story of one family and its dreams of a better world. Through his notebooks and drawings, Andargee, the 10-year-old hero/narrator, traces the story of his family’s attempt at a seemingly impossible journey from Ethiopia to Jerusalem – on foot! An all-African cast tells the story, based on actual events of 1984 when Jews of Ethiopia, known as the Beta Israel, fled impending famine and local Christian intolerance only to end up in refugee camps in Sudan, until airlifted to rescue.
“From the opening until the play’s end, the audience is invited on an emotional theatrical journey.”
